Lianhe Zaobao, published by Singapore Press Holdings, is a major Chinese-language comprehensive daily newspaper in Singapore. Its predecessor was Nanyang Siang Pao in 1923 and Sin Chew Daily in 1929. In 1983, the two newspapers merged and jointly published The Nanyang Sin Chew Lianhe Zaobao, or Lianhe Zaobao for short, which debuted on March 16, 1983 . Since March 18, 1984, the star periodical of the newspaper has been changed from 30 pages of regular publication and 12 pages of supplement to 32 pages of regular publication and 14 pages of supplement. Lianhe Zaobao, with a weekday circulation of about 200,000, is also published in small numbers in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Brunei, where it is the only overseas Chinese-language newspaper allowed to be published in major Chinese cities.
